Can these 4 players make the step up to the Reserves?

Over the course of this season we will be looking at all the players in the Rangers under-18 squad but we thought it worthwhile to pick out four players to watch out for who could make it into the Reserve squad.

Danny Finlayson – Danny is the current captain of the under 18s and has already played for the under 20s last season – at the age of 16 – where he performed well against older opposition before dropping back down to the under 17s where he led the team to the Glasgow Cup final win over Celtic.

Murray Miller – Murray is a mainstay in the under 18s midfield. The boy just seems to stroll through games and he has the ability to find space and keep things simple, which keeps the team moving forward at pace. One of those players that always looks as if he has time on the ball. He’s definitely someone I would like to see playing for the reserves.

Josh McPake – Josh has become a very important part of the under-18 team and has already played for the under 20s last season where he showed glimpses of his ability. Josh has the ability to take players on at pace while creating and scoring important goals, three of them coming against Celtic in a must win game in the Glasgow Cup group stage, which helped the team make it to the final.

Dapo Mebude – Dapo has been another of the mainstays within the under 18s, but with the addition of Chris McKee & Matty Yates pushing for more starts, it would make sense for Dapo to make that step up to the reserve squad where he could test himself against older opposition. Dapo has all the attributes needed to become a very good player: he can take players on, hold the ball up, create opportunities for teammates & score goals. He’s one to get fans and coaches on their feet and he has that unpredictable streak in his game where, at times, it looks like he doesn’t know what he’s going to do next.
