Rangers under 18’s half season review

Well it’s time for the players to have a short break before the football resumes again in a few weeks time so I felt it was a good time to look at how the Rangers under 18’s have done so far this season.

The league season started off with a frustrating 2-2 draw with Kilmarnock but they bounced back by with victories against Hibernian & Aberdeen before drawing 3-3 with Celtic in a very open game which could’ve ended up with any score in all honesty.

After that the Rangers under 18’s went on a run of wins against Motherwell, St Mirren, Hearts, Queens Park & Partick Thistle without conceding a goal.

Next up was East Kilbride in the Youth Cup who took a shock 1-0 & 2-1 lead before Rangers finally took control of the match winning 8-2 which was slightly harsh on them.

Fife Elite were the next club to be beaten by Rangers winning 6-0 before two tough games against Ross County & Inverness saw the under 18’s battle to two 1-0 wins.

Up next was Morton in the Youth Cup which proved to be a very tough test for the under 18’s as Dapo Mebude was sent off early on & condition weren’t the best but thanks to a double from Josh McPake Rangers won the match 2-0.

Bizarrely it was Morton again in the league which saw Rangers win 4-1 thanks to some terrific goals from John Balde, Kieran McKechnie & two from Kai Kennedy.

Last up for the Rangers under 18’s before the winter break was Dundee away & thanks to a Matty Yates goal Rangers took the three points keeping them at the top of the table.

Here’s hoping for a good second half of the season with a potential double on the cards.
